The new seatbelt law is to be effective today, February 1st, 2012, which requires all passengers in vehicle fastening the seatbelts including the rear seats. Violators are to be fined NT$1,500-6,000 (about US$50-200).
The requirements for all children to be seated in car seats or boosters will be effective on August 1st this year.
Helen and I had been using seat belt all the time no matter which seat we sit in a car for years. And Ethan had been using children car seat since he was 3-day old when leaving the hospital to home and swapped to high-back booster seat last year.
Time to establish standards for people to ride vehicle safely.
